The City of Gosnells is trying to replace 22 old eucalyptus trees with 35 young jacarandas, saying there is a danger the trees that have been part of the neighbourhood for decades will drop their heavy limbs.
Now, after almost 100 days of his sit-in, the council has grown tired of Richard Pennicuik's persistent protest and called in the lawyers.
But Pennicuik is showing no signs of stepping back or coming down.
“I haven’t done anything wrong,” he told Radio 6PR.
"They want to make a lesson out of me to the public – if you stand up to the guys in Gosnells council, this is what you’ll get."
